Fishing modalities:
Spinning Fishing: Spinning is an exciting fishing modality that offers a lot of fun and activity, as it generally involves light equipment. Ideal places for this technique range from shallow waters to deeper areas..
In these waters, a variety of species such as barracuda, meagre/bluefish, and even dentex await us.
Jigging Fishing: By jigging, we explore areas with rocky bottoms in search of exciting species like dentex, grouper, amberjack, and denton. This fishing modality offers an exciting confrontation, as the fight with the fish is vertical towards the sea bottom.
Bottom Trolling: In this fishing technique, trolling is done at a slow speed, mainly using live bait and a lead weight to take the line to the seabed. Choosing rocky bottoms is crucial in this modality, as we aim for species like dentex, grouper, or amberjack. It is known to be one of the most effective techniques for catching the coveted dentex.
Surface Trolling: In this exciting fishing modality, the depth and type of bottom only influence the species we can catch, as the lures move on the water’s surface. In this technique, it is possible to catch species like mahi-mahi, horse mackerel, or a wide variety of tunas.
Zoka Ball Fishing: In this fishing technique, we specifically look for areas with active marine activity, and a live bait, such as a squid or cuttlefish, hooked on the Zoka ball, is let down. Then, the boat is stopped, and we wait for a bite. With this modality, it is possible to catch a variety of predators that inhabit rocky bottoms, from dentex to pollock and other similar predatory fish.
Cephalopod Fishing: In the quest for cephalopods, we venture into shallow waters with the primary aim of catching cuttlefish and squids. To achieve this, we use two different fishing modalities: squid trolling and tip run.
In squid trolling, we troll using special lures that resemble a minnow; instead of treble hooks, these lures have a squid jig. On the other hand, tip run is a variation of eging fishing but is carried out from a boat and with heavier lures.
The ideal season for this type of fishing is winter, as the cooling of the waters brings cephalopods closer to the coast, thus providing an excellent opportunity for their capture.
