Fishing Techniques
Fishing with Spinning: Spinning is an exhilarating fishing technique that offers a wide range of fun and activity, as it typically involves the use of lightweight equipment. The ideal locations for practicing this technique can encompass both shallow waters and deeper areas.
In these waters, a diverse range of species awaits us, including barracuda, leerfish/amberjack, and even dentex.
Jigging Fishing: When practicing jigging, we explore areas with rocky bottoms in search of exciting species such as dentex, grouper, leerfish, and sama. This fishing technique provides an exhilarating encounter, as the battle with the fish takes place vertically towards the seabed.
Bottom Trolling Fishing: In this fishing technique, trolling is done at a low speed, primarily using live bait and a sinker that allows us to take the line down to the seafloor. The choice of rocky bottoms is crucial in this method, as we are targeting species such as dentex, grouper, or leerfish. It stands out as one of the most effective techniques for capturing the coveted dentex.
Surface Trolling Fishing: In this exciting fishing technique, the depth and the type of seabed will only influence the species we manage to catch to the extent that the lures will move on the surface of the water. With this method, it is possible to capture species such as mahi-mahi, amberjack, or a wide variety of tunas.
Zokaball Fishing: In this fishing technique, specific areas with active marine activity are targeted, and a live bait, such as a squid or cuttlefish, hooked onto the Zoka ball, is allowed to descend. Subsequently, the boat is halted, and one waits for the strike. With this method, it’s possible to capture a variety of predators that inhabit rocky bottoms, ranging from dentex to pollock and other similar predatory fish.
Cephalopod Fishing: In the pursuit of cephalopods, we venture into shallow waters with the primary purpose of capturing cuttlefish and squid. To achieve this objective, we employ two distinct fishing techniques: “curricalamar” and “tip run.”
In “curricalamar,” trolling is practiced using special lures that resemble minnows; instead of treble hooks, these lures are equipped with a jibionera. On the other hand, “tip run” is a variation of squid fishing (egging), but it is conducted from a boat and utilizes heavier lures.
The ideal season for this form of fishing is winter, as the cooling of the waters brings cephalopods closer to the coast, providing an excellent opportunity for their capture.
